Being located at the bottom of the East Coast, Sydney is the perfect destination to either begin or end your campervan road trip. With many campervan rental locations to choose from in Sydney, finding the perfect vehicle at a great price will never be an issue!
With a long list of things to do and places to see in Sydney, you’ll never be short of activities. If you’re out onn foot, Sydney Opera house is of course at the top of every visitor’s to do list. It’s a stunning example of modern day architecture and you can only really appreciate the scale and true beauty of the design in the flesh.
The Royal National Park is located just 40 mins drive south of the city and a great place to visit in your campervan with it’s stunning coastal cliffs, secluded beaches and eucalyptus-rich bushland. There are lots of trails to explore in the park so you won’t be short of beautiful sights either. We suggest heading to Bungoona Lookout for amazing views of the Hacking River.
Just a short, 10km drive west of the city centre is the stunning Bondi Beach. With many amazing restaurants, cafes, bars and places to hang out, Bondi Beach is in its own little bubble and one that’s definitely worth exploring. There are many breathtaking beach walks too, like Bondi to Coogee or Bondi to Bronte if you fancy parking up the camper and heading out on foot.
Manly is a great place to visit just 17 km outside of Sydney with a beautiful beach and lots of lovely cafes. The Manly to Spit coastal walk is particularly impressive too and there is a quaint brewery called 4 Pines you can take a tour of, perfect if you need to quench your thirst after a long coastal walk!
Drive 35 min North of Sydney and you’ll find yourself at the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. The park is a popular destination because of it’s scenic setting, perched on the edge of a southern branch of the Hawkesbury River. You’ll also find rock engravings and other art of Aboriginal origin which can all be seen on the Aboriginal Heritage walk. Allow yourself some time to enjoy the park as you will find picnic, boating, and fishing facilities there.
Driving just 90 mins west of Sydney city centre brings you to the enchanting Blue Mountains. One million hectares (3861 square miles) of tall forests, sandstone cliffs, canyons and waterfalls make up the stunning Blue Mountains. With many ways to explore it, either by yourself or on a guided tour, it’s accessible to every type of adventurer and we highly recommended making the trip there in your camper.
Sydney enjoys a sunny climate with mild winters and warm summers, perfect for those who love to spend their time outdoors. Sydney’s coolest months, June to August, reach lows of 8°C and highs of 17°C with the summer months, December to February, reach daily lows of 18°C and highs of 26°C. Sydney gets around 5 – 8 days of rain per month.
