Here’s a suggested itinerary for your East Coast Tasmania road trip:
Day 1: Hobart to Freycinet National Park
Start your journey in Hobart, Tasmania’s capital city.
Drive northeast along the Tasman Highway (A3) towards Freycinet National Park.
Explore the stunning Wineglass Bay and take a hike to the Wineglass Bay lookout for breathtaking views.
Spend the night in Coles Bay or Swansea, which offer accommodation options.
Day 2: Freycinet National Park to Bay of Fires
Continue north along the Tasman Highway and make a stop at Bicheno.
Explore Bicheno’s beautiful coastal attractions, such as the blowhole and rock pools.
Head further north to the Bay of Fires, known for its pristine beaches and orange-hued granite boulders.
Enjoy beach walks, swimming, and camping in the Bay of Fires Conservation Area.
Day 3: Bay of Fires to St. Helens
Wake up early to catch the sunrise on the Bay of Fires’ beaches.
Drive to St. Helens, a picturesque fishing town.
Visit the St. Helens Wharf and the local galleries showcasing local arts and crafts.
If you have time, take a detour to the stunning St. Columba Falls or explore the Blue Tier forest.
Day 4: St. Helens to Launceston
Depart St. Helens and head southwest toward Launceston.

Upon reaching Launceston, explore the city’s highlights, including Cataract Gorge, Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery, and the Boag’s Brewery.
Stay overnight in Launceston.
Day 5: Launceston to the Bay of Fires and return to Hobart
Drive back towards the Bay of Fires for one final day of beach relaxation and exploration.
Take your time to soak in the beauty of the area or engage in activities like snorkeling, kayaking, or birdwatching.
In the afternoon, start your journey back to Hobart.
Depending on your preference, you can either drive directly back to Hobart or spend the night at a midway point like Bicheno.
